I'm a huge fan of coconut oil. I use it as base for my sugar or salt body scrubs, it makes an excellent cuticle-elbow-heel conditioner, I use it on my arms and legs before adding body bronzer, and it works as a fantastic deep conditioner for dry, damaged, lackluster hair as well.
For an easy at-home hair conditioning treatment, combine 1 TBSP "Virgin" coconut oil, 1 tsp of Honey and a tsp of any of the following oils:
Pomegranate Seed Oil for FINE hair, Almond Oil for WAVY hair, Avocado Oil for COURSE hair or Olive Oil for THICK hair.
Massage the oil mixture into DAMP hair, concentrate on the ends and comb through. For extra conditioning power, heat the oil in the micowave or on the stove top to about 120 degrees. Tie hair up into a bun and leave the conditioning oil in for 20-30 minutes. For uber-damaged, dry hair, wrap the hair in plastic wrap, cover with a shower cap and marinate the hair over night. Shampoo and condition in the morning as normal. Coconut Oil has a molecule which is smaller than that of other oils, allowing it to penetrate the hair shaft deeper. If you're left with an oily residue upon washing, simply add a teaspoon of baking soda to your shampoo...the soda is an excellent clarifier., just make sure you condition your hair (with your favorite conditioner) afterwards.
A hair-care regime like this can be applied as often as you need. Coconut Oil is amazingly versatile! With so many uses, it's probably my favorite beauty product.
