get DIRTY and DETOXIFY your skin

Luminous DETOXIFIED skin isn't an urban myth, you simply need to get down-n-dirty with your skincare regime. Hair follicles are the super highway for hair growth, as well as sebaceous and sudoriferous gland production (oil & sweat). Aside from acting as our body's built-in cooling system, the sudoriferous "sweat" glands release the toxins and impurities that render skin lackluster. Skin works autonomously but welcomes a boost from time to time! Here are three simple steps for glowing, detoxified skin:

1.Drink PLENTY of water and stay away from hydrogenated & processed foods.
2. Exercise OFTEN, to stimulate sudoriferous-gland production.
3. Assist in the release of toxins with weekly at-home MUD treatments.

DO IT YOURSELF:
An at-home "active mud" treatment, like Borghese Fango ($37 at Bloomingdales), is fabulous for detoxifying the skin's impurities. In order for it to work at it's maximum capacity, however, it needs to be laid on THICK when applied to face and body. When treating skin at home, many women seldom think of "skin care" as a head-to-toe ritual, but rather as face and neck maintenance. The decolletage, back, arms and torso can greatly benefit from a mineral mud detox. Skin-essential minerals release impurities, rendering skin radiant, luminous and healthy. A once per week down-and-dirty mud treatment (along with proper diet and exercise) may be all your skin requires for the glow it craves. Prior to every mud treatment, I always recommend exfoliating the face and body with a good Glycolic or Salicylic acid scrub like Peter Thomas Roth, Anti-Aging Cleansing Gel ($48 at Sephora). Alpha Hydroxy and Salicylic Acid chemically exfoliates skin, leaving a prime surface for mud-mineral penetration.

TIME TO GET DIRTY:
Now that skin is prepped for the product to penetrate, apply a generous layer of mud onto the face, neck, décolleté, arms, torso and bikini-skin, allowing it to dry for about 20 minutes (this will trigger the product to release it's minerals). Rinse with warm water (using a wash cloth if needed), and repeat about twice per week.

An at-home detoxifying mud treatment is an effective way to get your skin out of rehab. It's easy, it's quick and it's affordable, how fantastic!
