Nourish the Delicate Skin Surrounding the EYES

If you are UNDER 30, you need to start hydrating the delicate skin around your eyes. This skin is the THINNEST on the body, and does NOT contain hair follicles, which means that your eye skin does NOT manufacture nourishing oils like the rest of your skin. Your eye skin is dependent on YOU for daily nourishment and hydration. Signs of aging can and WILL appear as soon as your late 20's. Gently apply a nourishing eye cream, morning and night, patting "inward" towards the nose, never pulling out towards the ears. This skin is thin and vulnerable and requires a delicate touch. I don't care what brand of eye cream you start using, just use one. As you become more educated about skin (by following my blog 😁), you'll eventually learn about what cream and serum is right for you. Just make sure that your eye product is "eye specific"....never use a face or body cream around the eyes.

GRAY adds drama to EYES

It only takes 3, not fifty,,shades of GRAY to achieve a platinum eye. Use a light shimmery platinum gray in the tear duct-area and under the brow line; a medium gray in the center of the lid and a dark charcoal gray within the crease & outter lid edge. Line the upper lid with black liner (for dimension & definition) and apply mascara. This is a terrific, dramatic look for a holiday event or anytime you just want to pump-up the glam factor.

Contour & Highlight the face to define facial curves

An everyday fresh face is easily achieved, you just need a few basics steps:
Prep clean, moisturized skin with and a tinted SPF moisturizer. CONTOUR, HIGHLIGHT & add COLOR to your cheeks (I like cream blush, it adds dimension). Set it all with your favorite mineral or translucent  powder (using a fluffy natural-hair brush), and you're ready for the day. 😊

It doesn't take much time, it just takes a bit of practice; the key is to blend blend BLEND! The face is made-up of hills and valleys....take the time to learn your facial contours, it'll make all the difference.

Eye Skin Requires TLC

Are you using eye cream TWICE per day? If your answer is "no" then I'll assume that aging gracefully isn't on your agenda. Here are the facts people: The skin around the eyes is the THINNEST skin on the body. The skin around the eyes does NOT contain hair follicles. Hair follicles are the super-highway for sebum secretion. Sebum is our skin's NATURAL moisturizer (oil). THEREFORE, really really thin skin without moisture equals??? Alligator eyes. Your choice :)

Winter Skin requires EXTRA Hydration

Winter skin can dry-out at the first signs of chill. If you live in a cold-arid climate, you need to be extra conscious of your skin. When my skin requires extra hydration, my go-to cream for face & body, is "Cetaphil" or "Argan Oil" ("Aquafor" is great as well, just don't use it on the face). Oils have gotten a bad rap over the years (who took the "oil" out of "Olay"??). But "dry oils" like Argan, are spectacular. The Argan molecules are small, so it penetrates deep within the epidermis....and NO folks, dry oils won't make you "break out". I use oils on my body, head to toe, every day.  Argan can be pricey, however, so mix it up with emollient creams and your winter skin will survive the frost. 😊

Keep shaved skin bump-free

Do razor bumps get the best of you? My solution is always laser hair removal....it can be life changing for those who struggle with unwanted hair. Laser treatments are costly however, so here are 3 easy tips to help your shaved- skin stay smooth and in-grown free:

1. Exfoliate 3-4x per week. Bikini, leg and underarm skin require perpetual maintenance. A granular scrub or an AHA exfoliator will keep skin cells turned over, reducing the chances of skin-build up.

2. Use a disposable razor. Razor blades harbor bacteria. Repetitive use of your infested blade will introduce this bacteria onto, as well as into your skin...it's this bacteria which causes the in-growns to become infected. So toss the blade after each use.

3. Use a Glycolic serum on your shaved skin EVERYDAY. Daily cell-turnover on your shaven skin will keep these areas looking smooth, pretty and bump-free  πŸ˜Š

Sugar Causes Acne Bacteria to GROW

If you think chocolate will make you break out, think again folks. It's not the "chocolate", it's the SUGAR in the chocolate that feeds the "P-acnes" bacteria which causes acne to fester.  SUGAR is inflammatory and will provide nourishment for your not-so-desirable breakouts. So, before you nix the m&m's, be conscious that your sugary DRINKS are just as damaging to skin. Fearful of chocolate withdrawals? Don't fret and enjoy your chocolate....just do so in moderation 😊
